Two little conversations

Recently in the course of my travel to home, I met two persons, of different age, profession, education and lifestyle - united by Telangana and divided by passion and education.

One is a cab driver, whose views about Telangana were appalling. Before I got into that cab, he dropped a Mumbai student from ISB till station. He wanted KCR govt to send away outsiders as 'they did' with Andhra people. He could not proceed studies post matriculation owing to his disinterest and thinks ISB students take away jobs from Telangana. He looked convinced with my argument that it is the other way around. These outsiders generally take his cab and fund his livelihood. He represented the majority of Telangana I knew : attitude - careless, arguments - baseless, aimless and hopeless.

Then in the bus, I was seated beside an uncle in his mid 50s. We broke into a conversation that went so far into the night, others had to shut us up (it was 1:00AM). He works in Singareni mines ( I thought one more typical T fellow) and is passionate about english. We were talking about crosswords, anagrams, pangrams, kangaroo words, and what not. I was amazed at his achievements. He holds national records for biggest crossword puzzle and palindrome. He spoke very passionately about his assiduous endeavors and experiments with english. I thoroughly enjoyed sharing with him my literary interests.
I forgot to mention, his name is 'Police', yes.

I wish Police uncle all the best for his book release; a book aimed at making english learning a fun and inculcating linguistic interests in school children.

Here it says it all. Have a look at the cover of the book

'Whistle Podu' has got a new context now

I write this in utter disgust over the political drama created by the elected representatives of our country. An assembly/parliament session cannot be held without a din, 'adjournment' is a mere order of the operations and things have took such a bad shape that it's difficult to imagine a session without pandemonium.
The level they have stooped to is disgraceful, shameful to the entire nation. Using a pepper spray in the august house, manhandling the chairperson, semi nude protests, slapping the marshals,... I'm sure, Telugu Film Industry is in dire need of such dramatics and creativity and not definitely Parliament/Assembly.

I strongly support  Ayn Rand's views on collective opinion when it pertains to our democracy in its current form. Collective opinion cannot be considered the ultimatum as long as the people are not matured enough ( or as she states that the majority is a bunch of morons).  We never accept simple yet brilliant solutions and we do not have a legacy of accepting our great people. We idolize leaders who take us from 'Unbearable' to 'Very dis comfortable'. But never think that these 'unbearable' situations are due to those very leaders.

I do not know what it takes to make people realize the greatness of a person suggesting so simple yet visionary and brilliant solutions and ways of governance. 'Brilliance', 'Stupendous', 'Sanity' -  the stature of any such adjective only gets heightened when used to describe him. Yes, we do have such a person in our own JayaPrakash Narayan, who has decided to dedicate his lifetime to see a better India and better lives for us.

I take pride in working as a volunteer for Lok Satta Party. I feel something special writing about them, may be this is manifestation of patriotism within me. I urge everyone to understand the ramifications if wrong people are elected to rule us and not to miss this chance to veto wrong politicians.

It is not enough, if only you go and vote for him. A revolution is need of the hour to see us out of this chaos. It would have been an acceptable regret had we not had a sane option. But, it's utter pity and shame on us, if we take this opportunity to vote out the ones selflessly fighting for us.

Few quotes I'd like to mention in this context:

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead

"It is said God lets great things happen through people who least care for the credit"

"Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds" - Albert Einstein

"Avoidable Suffering and Unfulfilled Potential are two sins that bother me" - JP

It's a serious bother that our country is in a state where Good has to be sold and Bad is accepted as-is.
Let us bring about the change by voting for 'Whistle'. After all, WhistlePodu has got a new context now.
